Sump: found the model finally. It’s a mega flow model 4 sump by aqueon. Pump that cane with the tank is a jaebo dc pump. I’m planning on replacing the pump ASAP as I hate jaebo stuff and never had good luck with their products for than a year.

Question: on the sump originally it was designed for a bioball chamber. Two possibilities come to mind.
1) I’m planning on replacing the bioballs with a section for live rock to sit and have water flow through, followed by a refuge section, then the return. No skimmer. Lots of macro algae and display macro.
2) first section is a refuge followed by a slimmer section, return. Chaeto with some other algae’s and macro display.

I’m planning on low bioload, heavy zoa, some montis. With this load on the sump I don’t see a need for a skimmer...thoughts?

I love my kole tang always grazing and has stayed the same size for yrs. Never had a tomini so can’t comment on them.
The tomini was recommended by Seth Solomon to be a few years back, they’re harder to find but I’ve heard great things about them. Janitorial type tang. Thanks!!!

Have the rock in a Rubbermaid in the garage with some water movement and a heater. Rinse it all off after sitting in the sun for a few days. Planning on changing out the water a few times and then adding bactiv 8 to the tub to jumpstart the cycle in a week or so.

Make sure you cycle the system for quite a while. No amount of bacterial will totally cycle that setup. Add fish slow, corals slow, etc. I seem to remember you having a crash or two due to trying to rush things.....

Yea that was a while ago. Crash was my 60 when I moved from the western slope to Fort Collins.

Tomini, they stay smaller and are less aggressive
That’s what I’ve read, contacted an LFS and they’ll be able to get one in if I want it. Thanks Scott!
