Sailfin trying to be a clown...

#1
My Sailfin has a problem that's going to get him killed... Recently he's started hovering around the clown's anemone and getting danger close and then today, the inevitable happened... The anemone caught my Sailfin. Stunned him, went belly up, labored breathing, wouldn't move. So I isolated him and after an hour, started swimming again but nose dived everything! He finally regained himself but still the lesson hasn't been learned... He swam back into the anemone, then took off across the tank. And now he's back over at the anemone again, trying to be a clown. All the white spots covering his body are the stings from the anemone.

180G reef

Niger Trigger
Goat Fish
6 Clown's
Fox Face
Lemon Peel Angel
Chocolate Mimic Tang
Snowflake Eel

The only fish the Sailfin shows aggression towards is my eel during food time. And the only other two that have issues is the Goat Fish and the Trigger only because the Goat Fish will steal food from the Trigger's mouth. But I got all the fish at the same time, introduced together about 8 months ago and no issues until the most recent deadly addiction. And none of them are sick. I spend an hour a day with my tank at a minimum and can usually tell when something's up during food time because all the fish (right or wrong I do it anyway because I love it) are hand fed.

Also, I had just fed the fish like an hour before the anemone caught him. He was bright colored, no spots, and very active with eating the shrimp from my hand. Literally, all those spots and his color getting very dark happened within 15 minutes of bring caught.

I might post this one up on a nation thread like reef2reef.

You may try sticking a mirror on the tank as close as you can to the nem. He’ll be more concerned with his reflection than the nem. Hopefully over time you’ll be able to remove the mirror.

Just a thought.
