Looking for some history information

For Christmas I was finally able to have all my kids and grandkids over all at once. It’s was fun but I was asked a question about how old my clowns were. I realized I have no idea. So we started brainstorming and have a timeline but no real dates.

the current 90 gal tank houses the clowns, it was purchased between Thanksgiving and Christmas after my 55 started leaking (the 55 was purchased from Sherman’s Tanks in late 1989, I know that as my oldest daughter and I purchased it just after my youngest daughter was born and the oldest needed some daddy daughter bonding, well that what I told my wife.). Anyway it started to leak on Friday just after thanks giving. I rescued what I could into buckets and started shopping for a new tank. The Aquarium Warehouse (I think that’s the name) on South Chambers Road, was not far from my house and had some tanks on sale so I picked up my current 90. My two current clowns came from my old 55.

so my question is, when was Aquarium Warehouse open? I believe it was only open for a few years so that should get me close to their age.

I worked at Sherman Tank Co. until they closed their Aurora location... I also lived near Hampden & Chambers but moved a year or two before the store you mentioned was opened (I believe it was a hardware store before it became a fish store). IIRC, they opened around 1995 or 96. Hope that helps.

that’s fitting, my oldest daughter thought she was a junior in high school, around 1998 when we moved the fish to the larger tank.

but that would make these two clowns over 22 years old. And quite possibly 24+ years old.

Always fascinating to see how long some of our fish can live when properly cared for. Lfs nearest me has a clown thats 28.

That's not uncommon. Clowns in particular can live quite a long time. I have seen a few that are 30+years old and one that was over 40
