Frogspawn not looking so good

#1
I could use some advice please. One of my frogspawn has a branch that's turning dark and has lost its color. The rest of the animal looks great. My nitrates are around 8 ppm, ph at 8, no ammonia or nitrite. the rest of the corals in the tank look good. I give a dose of photo feast every 4 days. Should I just break that branch off or wait a few days. I noticed the color change start 2 days ago and it's going the wrong direction...darker and more translucent. Thanks for any advise you may lend.

This actually came with the tank and has done great for 3 months. I would like to attaches a photo but cant figure out how to :). My first thought it to leave it alone and then I have some concern that it could cause stress to the rest of the branches. Leave it or break the piece that appears to be dieing off?

You said it came with the tank 3 months ago.. what kind of lighting system? How long has it been since you replaced your bulbs? Nitrates are a little high.

VHO's, bulbs 6 months old, and everything else is looking great. There are 6 heads and all of the others look fantastic but this one is growing and looks to be dying.

That could be the problem. You want your alkalinty 4 or above and your ph between 8.2-8.4. If I was you is also work on those nitrates at 8ppm they coukd do damage. Do a 25% water change, run some kalkwasser throw some chaetomorhpa in the fuge. And if that frogspawn looks dead cut it off and get it out. You don't need that unnecessary ammonia spike from decomposing material

Alk at 2.3? No wonder, I am surprised anything is open, much less alive, baking soda, or kalkwasser dissolved in FW, small amounts, dripped in slowly, I would go for about 1.0 change per day.

Alk and PH are definitely connected, if one is low, the other will drop at a faster rate.
Mag has the same effect on Ca, and Ca has this effect on alk.
SO,....if your Mg is low, then Ca can drop faster, vicariously effecting the alk, vicariously effecting the PH, its a domino effect.

Make sure you double check your test results anytime they are that far off of what they should be.
