I currently have two skimmers available to use on the tank in the library. The volume of the RedSea 750 XXL according to RedSea is 200 gallons total volume. I have a ASM G-3 and a Bubble Magus Curve 7. According to the manufacturer the Curve 7 is rated from 185-240 gallons. Both skimmers are in fine working order and the only thing on the ASM that is original is the body and it pulls tons of gunk out of the tank already. I am leaning toward the if it ain't broke don't fix it method of thinking, but the Curve 7 is a nice little skimmer. What do you guys think? Drop the ASM or keep it?

Hard to argue the performance of an asm they just work.

Right and now that I’ve adjusted it in the sump I don’t have to worry about it overflowing anymore.

If you've got the g3 up and running, I'd roll with it.

About 6 months ago I tried a skimmer swap out from the Precision Marine to a huge Reef Octopus, thinking I was missing out on something wonderful....turns out your old Precision Marine is a beast of a skimmer and I missed it, and it is back in the system and running great (although I am on the 3rd pump on it)

I echo what TCB said. I had an ancient skimmer that didnt even have a needle wheel impeller, so I upgraded. And that is when the issues began in my 60g....

I would take a new G3 over a Curve any day... but you probably knew this. I like skimmers with sicce pumps, just hate that the waste skimmer space with the pump in there and then remove all of the violent turbulence with a bubble plate.
