FOWLR? What about COWLR?

So I had been kinda wondering, when I was looking at expensive corals and mourning past losses. How bad/good is the idea of instead of a fish only tank, doing a large coral only tank? Would they do fine without the fish poop food on top of lighting? Idea is trying to make for the most ultimate stable system. Big LPS/anems could be target fed without waste, though I'd be leary of broadcast feeding.

I think my idea would be to get the tank "grown" out and where I'd want it with the corals and then start to slowly add fish, probably one at a time. Then if problems you know who the surprise muncher is (learned this lesson after I had a reef safe fish by all accounts start loving kenya tree) On top of of course letting the LR bacteria catch up with new load. Hardest part once adding fish would be to keep it conservative and not pack the tank full.
