Huge thanks to Jodi for encouraging this build and making all of the arrangements with Shawn to hook this up. We picked up our new classroom addition today and the acclimation went off without a hitch. Already added some easy corals and macro that’s all looking good. Got some changes we want to make to this tank, and it needs a good water change. But Grumpy is looking great and hunting across the tank. He sure gets more active when we add his prey.

We’re almost out of mollies for him to eat, so I dropped in some guppies for him last week. Interestingly, several of them were still alive after the long holiday weekend, and had dropped babies. I knew mollies could acclimate to saltwater, but never seen guppies last more than a couple hours (he either gets them or they die). So that was a surprise.

He really is a super cool fish. The students got to watch him hunt (successfully) in the middle of physics class once. He’s just spectacular.
