lawnmower laying on leather...both shriveled and turned purple

So i am wondering if my leather stung the lawnmower. He perched right in next to the stalk and his entire head looked like it was frozen. I reached in and nudged him and the rest of the body seemed fine but he was nowhere to be found in the tank. I rearranged the entire tank. He must be hiding. Any thoughts on whether a basic leather could cause this?

Never heard of such a thing. My LMB perches on my toadstool leather all the time and they both seem fine. Perhaps there is another explanation?
