biocube modification

#1
Hello. I was told that if you scrape the paint off of the back panel on a biocube it can then be used as a refugium. Does anybody know what else should be done to modify this so I can use it as a refugium? I would also like some advice on making a diy protein skimmer for a 29 gal biocube. Thanks.

I had the intank media basket and refugium where the bio balls are, used a pond submerisble pen light to grow the chaeto, worked like a charm.a little pricey but a very clean setup

with the biocube, I find it harder and harder to keep up as I stock heavily. eventually I took the wall out and drilled for an external sump.

how much of a task was this? I've got the acrylic media box and acrylic fuge box for back there but always having had large systems I'd like to have a 10 or 20 gallon sump/fuge where I can grow macros and such!
