My all is hanging in at about 8 and calcium is low but steady (working on raising) at 300. But my mag is off the chart on the Red Sea test kit! I haven't dosed any and do brs 2 part for the other. How to lower? Is it bad to have it this high?

How are your inverts. I believe the only ill effects of mag that high is how it effects your snails. If they are fine, I wouldnt be too concerned.

sounds like you need to switch salts..... salinity is known to have crazy numbers..... ive always kept my mag around 1500-1600.

If you have no ill effects, I wouldn't worry about it.

The best way to lower mag is to let it drop naturally over time.

I usually kept mine at 1350, but one day I tested and it was at 1500. Didn't have any issues and just let it drop over time.

Agree with smiley, I overdosed mag to treat a bryopsis invasion a few years back, killed it all with no ill effects on any corals and was rewarded with an explosion in coralline.
