miracle mud or clay?

I have read that miracle mud or some clays are very beneficial to t tank , why is this and does it really help add minerals to the column ?

Miracle mud is just mainly quartz and is a waste of money.

If your going to use a mud, use fiji mud. It is basically a bucket of mud from the fiji mud beads.

would Calcium Bentonite clay work well? it is used by koi farmers and is suposed to leach mineral

What are you trying to get out of using it? What problem are you trying to solve?

no problem yet, i am starting a nano tank i am going to grow macro algae in and had seen alot of people using mud in refuguim with better results them thous with out and am thinking of having 2-3'' of clay or mud capped with 2-3'' of crushed coral sand
