Last night I lost my beloved Yellow Tang. I examined his body and no signs of ich or any infection that I could see. I tested the water and the parameters are below:

Just test my parameters this morning.
Salinity 1.022
PH 8.2
Nitrate 20
Amm 0
Nitrite 0
Phospate ~0

I did a 25% water change. What else can I do?????????????

Nothing... Sometimes they just die. Could he have been a lot older than you thought?

High for corals nothing really for fish, fish aren't really bothered till around 100+

Yeah. I think that I actually had a spike that went unseen and lost my fish. I am getting some prime to make sure everything stays normal.

My nitrates were over 160 for months and it didn't bother any of my fish (including tangs, angels and a moorish). Of course I have decided that meant I had poor water quality and didn't want that for my fish any longer so I'm down to "0". ;) I can pretty much assure you, your nitrate level had nothing to do with its death.

FYI...I used the NoPx (Nitrate & Phosphate reducer) by RedSea and it got me all the way down to "0".
