I Shoot for 1.025-1.026...However I just invested in a refractometer a few weeks ago and found out my Hydrometer was reading .004 too low so all my tanks were at around 1.03 for months and I still saw good growth and color from my corals. Like many things with this hobby I think the exact value is less important then keeping the values from changing very much or too quickly. I have since brought the salinity down cause there is no need to play with fire keeping it that high
How slowly does one raise their salinity? Over say 2-3 water changes? Or is it safe to bump it from 1.024 to 1.025 or .026 in one change...I'm assuming not?
