Yes, 2 should work for a 4' tank. They do have a piece of tempered glass that keeps the spray and evaporation from dulling the bulb/reflector.

I wouldn't use the bulbs in the fixtures. Probably have almost 2 years on them.

Here is what is printed on the side of the Galaxy's. These have been offline for four years (tank was shut down), so don't be scared by the mfg date.
