Do they just explode with new heads like this?

Up until 2 days ago it had 3 heads, then this morning BOOM!! 10 heads!?

I have one that is doing that, pops way more heads than the skeleton can support, then the grow real long like a trumpet because they are light starved from the larger heads on top. Hopefully the skeleton catches up.
