I'm in need of a good Algea eater in my 40 g frag tank. I've tried the snails and hermies, ive got a lawnmower blenny. Would a small small yellow tang make quick work of the Algea it's mostly hair Algea. I've drove my mag up to 1400 I run gfo and skim heavy. Po4 is 0 it's only on the frag plugs I've got from everywhere and everyone.

Ive been told sea hares are varacious alge eaters. I know aquamart had some and are getting more in. I didnt have mine very long before he got sucked into my powerhead, so i never got to see him in action :( I have since covered my mp10.

Yea I put one in Saturday and haven't seen him since. Not a big tank and not many hiding places. Not sure where he went

Rainfordi Gobies and Sea Hares are the best for hair algae!

Yello Tang will not eat hair algea IMO, my kole will eat it on occasion, but not usually.

May be better to find the problem at hand and correct it all together as apposed to trying to control it. Went through a similiar problem with briopsis, tried every critter under the sun, controlled it but never got rid of it, finally decided to play ball and completely eradicate it. While it took alot of work over a few weeks time with monitoring levels, adding mag, and removing as much as I could physically its gone and has not come back at all.

Ive had luck with emerald crabs as well, although I didnt want them in my tank so I set up a 10 gal and used it to house a few emerlds and I would add a few corals, once the algea was gone Id swap them out, worked decently but never fully got rid of the problem either and was a pain in the ***.

Its strange its only on your frag plugs? What type of plugs are they?

Not sure a mix of different types. Just the standard plugs I've got from different shops. I've got some new ones soaking and will try to move some frags to the new plugs
