I bought the söchting oxydator nano for my 3G picotope off impulse and not sure when I should add it into the tank? Anyone use one that can add some input?

First never buy off impulse! Second free bump
Well if no one is using one I'll test it out, see what happens and report. From what I understand kinda the same as dosing vodka or peroxide?

Not sure about its use with vodka dosing but I've read about using it with peroxide. You probably have seen this already but just in case you have not: http://www.marinedepot.com/freshwater_sochting_oxydator_information-ap.html
Curious about the results if you decide to use it.

Yeah I've read that and other people talked about it in the nano bubble thread from reef2reef. I was wondering mainly when to add it to the tank. After the cycle or is it okay during the cycle. I don't see why it would harm the cycle at all? I will
Be using it and probably wait till after the cycle to see if I notice any difference in corals so I'll give this tank a few weeks then add it and see what changes if anything.

Hahahaha Juan you crack me up. I would not use that on a 3g tank. Too much can go wrong when your are increasing ORP with that. I would suggest getting a wood air stone with a 10g air pump and run it for 20 min at night. it will do the micro bubble thing and not risk spiking your ORP to dangerous levels. Also, don't use this method if you do not have a skimmer.

This was made for a tank this size otherwise I would not be doing it. There's no return pump just an ac30 for flow and I doubt it would do the same thing as a return pump honestly. Do you need a skimmer for using an oxydator or is that just with the nano bubbles? I will also have an apex gold so would monitoring the orp help with to make sure I don't over do it? And you say to much could go wrong.. Like what? Help me understand haha.

Yup I was mixing up the microbubbles thing and the oxydator. As for why high ORP is bad is because if it gets past 650 it can instantly kill off all bacteria in the tank. But as long as you have a an email alert you should be fine. And you need a skimmer to remove the oxidized organic materials that get caused by running an oxydator. Without that, the only benefit your getting with those is increased PH.

Are you doing the nano you got from me?

No just a 3G picotope saving that for later when I get a house. Just needed something small to help keep my feet wet.
