That algae typically comes in as a hitchhiker, and may eventually disappear on its own. It's calcerous, so it's growth is dependent on your calcium levels. If you don't have an SPS tank, you can try bringing your Ca levels down a little to see if that slows down the growth so that you have an easier time with manual removal.
From what I've read, it produces a chemical that makes it not as palatable as other macros. If you want it gone...manual removal is probably your best bet.
