Trying to pick a background for the new tank. So what do you guys think and why?

I have not. I think it would look kinda weird to me. Some people may like it though.

The best color is in the eye of the beholder... What do YOU like. Personally I like the sky blue ocean backgrounds or flat black. Black makes everything stand out but doesn't give a "classy" look that most are Going for. Look forward to seeing the tank up and running later on in winter! Good luck drew

Part of me is wanting to try white and just see how it looks. Would help brighten up the tank for sure and just isn't something that you see everyday.

Maybe even a white background with black sand. HMMMMM

Yeah I tried white first and it really takes away from the tank IMHO. But that's me. Check it out and see if you like it. What lighting will you be using?

I agree Jon, but I don't want to look "through" the tank until that happens.

My only gripe with a white background is that the smallest bit of film algae and/or diatoms are VERY visible. Granted, probably won't be an issue beyond 4-6 months once your system settles in, but occasional blooms quickly become an eyesore if/when you get them.

I have a mostly white background on my planted setup because it helped reflect light into the back corners of the tank...but cleaning the back glass regularly got old, so I went with black instead and haven't cleaned the back wall since.
