Two blue maxima saltwater clams and one squamosa. Very pretty. Maximas are 7inches, the Squamosa is 5inch, they are big. Happy and healthy, they are doing great, they just don't fit my tank's personality. One is covered in the green star polyp, so you get those for your tank as well! I'm in Colorado Springs, but can meet somewhere if you're in Denver. However you must commit to buy first, I'm not going to stress the clam just to look at it. PM for any questions or to set up a time to come look! $150 each for the Maximas, $125 for the Squamosa.

How long have you had them? What lights are they under?

I cannot tell for sure, but the clam in pic 3 looks like a crocea.

They're under metal halides with blue actinics. I've had them for about 3 weeks, thought I would like them more. Two are from a dealer, the third was from an established tank the guy had for 8 years. The third might be a crocea, kinda looks more like one. I was told it was a maxima, and that's all I could find when I researched, but the shell does look more like a crocea.

New pictures added to photobucket. Pictures are from today, so you can see they are open, with full mantel extension and color. The difference in the color is the difference between looking from the top and looking from the side. The photos have not been edited or touched up in any way.

I have them all under metal halide lighting, with the 10k and actinic blues. Full lights are on about 10 hours a day, with blues on about 1-2 hours on either side of that.

It was also pointed out to me, and after more research, that one of the Maxima's is actually a Crocea clam. Still very cool.

I also have them up on craigslist, but there is a discount for anyone on MASC or SCMAS.

Bump. $140 each for the maxima and crocea, $115 for the squamosa. I don't think I'll go lower, they're happy and have new growth rings, so they're only going to get bigger. I transitioned to LED's, so I'll post new pictures soon.

$125 each for the crocea and maxima, $110 for the squamosa. They're doing great in my tank, they're just sitting right where I want to move my platy brain to.

Sorry to stray off topic but what is the purpose of the screen I see you have in the sand under the squamosa?

We've added more sand, so it's not exposed any more, but it's to keep diggers from messing up the dead water plenum we have in the tank.

You run a dead water plenum? Interesting, I thought this was a dead form of filtration in the hobby as the last time i saw it used was like 1999. How well does it work for you? Its similair to the method used in fresh water tank with an undergravel filter right?

We're pretty new to the hobby, but we learned about it from someone who had a tank for 13+ years, so I guess it is a pretty old school form. We also run a full sump/protein skimmer/filter material, so it's secondary. So far seems to work well. We don't run a pump or air bubbles out of the space, it's just a dead space, so similar to the undergravel but not quite.
