Biocube sump?!

Okay setting up a biocube soon and wondering how I can put a sump underneath it with my protein skimmer rated for 45gallons. Appreciate all the ideas. Thanks.

Is the stock internal system good enough to keep nitrates low? Also you think an ai sol would be good over these.
