i moved my biocube to my new apartment yesterday and my birdsnest corals look like crap. They were out of water for about an hour. I thought sps could survive out of water for a while. My montis and milies are fine and they were out just as long. I was thinking that maybe they got sunburnt from moving the tank out and in. Im really not sure what happened. It was extremely hot yesterday but i am just shocked that they might not make it. :blue:

My birdsnest is in the same boat. The big difference is that mine was only out of water for a minute or so. I moved my football sized pink birdsnest from my 34 gallon reef to my 90. All of the other corals that were moved with it are doing great, but the birdsnest is almost completely dead now. I feel your pain!

There was a little water in the tank, but for the most part it was in open air.

That's crazy I would never attemp to move a coral let alone a whole tank without holding everything in water good luck

If it really was over an hour exposed I am surprised anything made it. a few sps come out of the water when I do water changes and that is only for about 5mins and I get stressed about that. I know zoas can last quite a long time out of water, but anything else not so much. I have lots of green birds nest if you end up needing to replace it.

good luck, I will give you a frag if it dies. however, you must defeat me at paper, rock scissor and promise never to leave it out for more then lets say 7 minutes and 12 seconds.

the birdnests in my tank tips died when changing water, were left out of water for about 10 min. they dont really slime, so not much protection, but something like green slimer acro can be out for alot longer time. you are correct alot of SPS do recieve times without water, but only the most slimiest do the best.
