How old is your membrane? It may need to be replaced, have you checked the TDS before and after the DI stages to determine how much TDS the DI is actually removing. If I remember correctly the "finish" water coming off the membrance should be somewhere in the range of 10-20 TDS depending on the supply concentration and then the DI removes the rest. If your membrance is failing or used up then this will cause the DI resin to have to remove more TDS and be exhausted faster.

My membrane is 3 months old after the membrane and before the di my tds is 8-11 after the di it's 0 but it's going through di quick this is the first time I've used the brs di I'm wondering if it's there di that don't last long? I didn't get there high capacity I didn't think I should need it maybe I do

2 things come to mind.

1: did you fully pack the DI into the cartridge? You should barely be able to fit all the resin from the bag into the cartridge. Dont spill any or waste any. If the cartridge is not tightly packed the DI will get spent faster IME.

2: Is your DI chamber exposed to any light? If so put a dark sock around the chamber.

---

What does this mean?

DI should be the last stage of the process and a chamber requires a full bag of the BRS media. Do you have dual DI canisters?

Also, what do you mean high capacity? There are only 2 types of BRS DI resin, color changing and non color changing...

Yes I have two canisters of di ones smaller than the other. yes I do pack it tightly into the canisters. And my second stage is a lager canister than there normal canister.

Mine rips through the BRS as well but my issue is membrane seepage. I have auto-top offs on my fuges that are just float valves so the are constantly asking for water. Subsequently the RO membane is getting in water at 300 and putting out water at 100 so the DI has to take all of that out and lasts 10 days. I am going to get some level controllers on both my set ups so that they ask for water less frequently so that I don't use up the DI resin so fast. When I get more than a few ounces at a time the TDS drops down to 25 coming out of the membrane which would equate to new resin every 6 weeks or so for me.

Kris. How do you typically pack your cartridge? I have tapped it down with a container the just fits inside the DI cart and put the lid on and banged it on the floor to get it to settle and I still always have leftover resin...

I just tap it down against a counter after every little bit of resin I add. Probably tap it down ten times and ten taps per pack if that makes sense. Its a tough fit but I get it all in the canister.

I only do it 3 or 4 times as I fill. Have to try more packing as I go.
