brute container/ Fuge

#1
I took down my nem tank and am wondering if I cut a hole in the lid of a brute container for light, can I have the rock, chateo and bugs grow in there instead of a tank? I didnt want to take the tank down in the first place but had too. I wouldn't mind something easy to maintenance but dont want to screw it up. If anyone has done this before, is it worth it for the pods and water on hand vs the downsides what ever they be. Looking for some advice :) Thanks

I use a brute to cycle live rock, and many of the guys that have larger remote sumps use the larger rubermaid stock tanks as sumps. I'm actually getting ready to start a cryptic type fuge on my frag tank, and will use a brute 10 gal in line with my regular sump to hold the live rock. Only down side I ever encounter is unless its actually designed to hold liquid, the normal containers will bow out quite a bit.

Hmm maybe a nice square 20/30g rubbermaid. I would imagine i need food grade if this was a long term deal, Like a tide pool tank?!

Yeah, doesn't make a lot of sense to do all that work, down a brand, and not produce results. Any suggestions on what salt to use?

Kinda off topic but it was being discussed earlier on marsh about recomeneded salt brands. I along with quite a few others use Salinity, although it was posted ive been mixing my salt wrong for years now lol

Its all good! I checked my brute, it just states nsf. I will take a better look into containers this week. I am now thinking of switching my salt!
