Hello everyone,

I'm looking to get some bulk magnesium. Aquatic Art sells it for $10 a gallon but they are only open Friday and Saturday (can't do Fridays and this saturday is tough for me). I also live in Wheat Ridge so AA is a hike for me. Does anyone know of any other places to get cheaper magnesium? The stuff is kind of expensive when you buy it in pre-packaged branded form (Amazon sells it for like $20 for 1/4 gallon). I've called Elite Reef and Aquamart with no luck.

Anyone know of any other places?

Thanks in advance!

Aquatic Arts $10 a gallon is pretty hard to beat if you are wanting pre-mixed ready to go solution. Also if you are in a tank under say 90 gallons - 1 gallon of magnesium should last you a really long time.

Now....if you are trying to kill a nuisance algae.......IMO (In My Opinion) you will need to use Kent Marine Tech M only and you will need 1 gallon in order to properly eradicate. http://www.kentmarine.com/products/kent-tech-m-magnesium.htm

Thanks everyone. I've looked for Mag Flake, that stuff seems to be tough to find. My issue is that my 72 day fallow period is almost up for my QT tank which has like 10 coral frags. My main DT is just fish right now. So i'm looking to get Magnesium up so i can boost calcium and alkalinity this weekend and get everything in line by Monday. It looks like I may just need to make the trek down to Aquatic Art.

Thanks again!

I have some BRS magnesium that you can have cheap...actually, let me make sure I have it first :p I'll PM you if I do, I'm just east of you so it's pretty close

$10 a gallon is gonna be hard to beat though if you want bulk...and AA is worth the trip :)

If you just need to raise it once, you can use some epsom salt... but not a great option for ongoing dosing. Magnesium Chloride is available in lots of hardware store right now as ice melt - it is the same stuff that they resell for the reef at a higher markup.

I also saw Mag Chloride at Costco. I had just bought some Fritz Mag Chloride off of Amazon, so I didn't need it. If you have never used the flakes before, they are super easy to dissolve and do a good job for me at raising Mag levels.
