So I'm think I might get a 280 gallon system. Where I want to put it will be on the first floor. I do have a basement. Now it will span one of the basement brick walls along with backing up to an exterior wall. Will my floor support this? My refugium will be in the basement.

They make steel floor supports you should be completely fine especially if you buy two supports that's just my opinion. What's the footprint of tge tank?

Home depot has them
There $50-75 I believe but it should make your floor to be able to support I think each one is 5000 lb load rating but get two just to be sage in my opinion what's the dementions of the tank?

Anyone know of any engineers that can help with finding out if the floor can handle it.

If your basement has a concrete floor, it's a lot easier to do than a wood sub floor. just beef it up under and put your mind at ease. I used two adjustable floor joists and a 4 x4 under my 175g. I went for years without them, but I always freaked out with the kids went running by my tank. When we installed tile, I added more weight to the whole floor. So I installed them and I am the tank barely moves. This is a shot under my tank in the basement.
