me figure out whats wrong with my fish.
hes a blonde naso tang and he came out of his little hang out today and i saw this on him. first time iv ever seen it.
anyone know what it is or how to treat this

I know my scopas has been iffy with him but i dont know if its a bad bite or infection or normal ..no clue

Looks like a wound from a fight. Some Scopas Tangs can be very aggressive. The good news is, from your photos, the Naso looks well and the wound will usually heal on it's own! BUT keep an eye out for any aggression. Sometimes it's just a "one time deal", but if the aggression continues the Naso will stress and thing will only go down hill from there! Good luck!

you could always quarantine him to be safe! When in doubt, take them out!!!!

i dont have a qt tank. This will be my next investment for sure! and thank you catfish for your help aswell.. phew,, good to hear its probably just a bite!

I agree, looks like a fight wound.

Feed way more often than normal when introducing a new fish. This way they are full and less agressive.. at least for a few days. Also, I find that putting a mirror against the tank helps a lot. I have two sides so I can see that how the fish react. When a fish sees itself in the mirror, it takes all its aggression out on the same type, sex, class, and size as itself.... because it is. This way they are less territorial and pay less attention to the new guy. I've done this for up to a week.... but it's been years since I've added a new fish.
