Chiller placement

I'm putting together a 150 gallon tank in an area of my house which gets rather warm in the summer. I purchased a decent size chiller and would like to run it inside the cabinet so its not visible in the room. Does anyone have experience with this, I'm concerned there will not be enough ventilation inside the cabinet..

Any advice or experiences is much appreciated.

I think you'll want that vented pretty well, once you turn it on you'll know if its overheating pretty quick.

If it's so ugly it can't go outside. You could try making/buying a little stand meant for smaller tanks or even usual house whatever. Stuff it inside with open backend. Now you have additional area for setting things down. Maybe a drawer in it for storing small stuff. Can also use a cheap fan for extra circulation I bet, though extra electric cost.

I like the idea of a separate stand to house it. Probably wouldn't take me long to put another tank on top of it though..

I have kept then under the cabinet. On days when it can look not-so-nice, just leave the doors open in the summer. When you have guests over, then close them up. I typically have a home-depot vornado-type fan that comes on when the chiller does to move some air out from behind the stand - if you have some room between the back of the stand and the wall, then they can move quite a bit of air out.

Thanks for the advice guys. I ended up buying a large sump which takes up most of the cabinet so I guess the chiller will have to go on the outside during summer months.
