I have a frag tank and one end has a 150w sun pod halide, I could use a light for the other side. I was thinking buy a full spec LED just for softies, basic sps, and LPS. Would either of these units do? Does anyone who bought a unit from Bush or Koi (or any other vendor) really like it? Are they similar to these? Appreciate you advice. //Dave

I don't know if any vendors carry it but I love love love my Hydra 52's. You can check them out when you grab your rastas. They're ready by the way.

If you dont mind spending another $100, the onyx by rapidled has a similar spectrum with a little more power and an awesome 5 year warranty. For a cheap LED, the ones you listed seem pretty good for ths price.

Optimists say the glass is half full. Pessimists say the glass is half empty. Engineers say the glass is twice the size that it needs to be.

Decent LED options?

I bought the second one, I don't remember from who. We ordered a few to get better pricing. It does good for my softies and LPS but not for Sps. I'm actually going to sell 2 of them and go back to MH. I should add that I have them on a 240 cube, they might work better on a shallower tank

Gabe, Look forward to seeing your setup, I left you a VM

Jon, Thanks, I'll look into the razor. I'm frugal but not cheep. I know you get what you pay for. Thanks for you advice.

Ric, This is for one end of a shallow 40gal frag tank (so about 20gal). Def not the size of your reef. It will be a loooooong time before I give up my halides. LED's are definetly the future, and I welcome them. I feel they are still maturing; not convinced they are there yet. I've seen many go back to Halides and use for LED's for pop.

Hydra 52's are on the pricy side.

onyx by rapidled looks good. I love how the LEDs are lower on wattage.

Hmm, I'm thinking this is my own way to do side by side HQI vs LED. The HWI is a 150w so it's comparable...
