DIY media reactor and up flow algae scrubber

#2
I made a DIY carbon reactor. Had a spare RO canister and housing lying around.. bought the refillable cartridge from BRS and was on my way. Cost a total of 10ish bucks all said and done as I had a pump lying around. Just had to buy 3/8 to 1/4 quick disconnects for the lines and BOOM. Totally worth the money haha

Username Santa Monica has a thread on here for various algae scrubbers that is worth the read. I think his floating algae scrubber is the best design I have seen and been wanting to build one myself

I ended up making a reactor out of a Nalgene bottle and filled it with de-nitrate. I did some reading and the de nitrate also controls phosphates. If anyone is interested I can let you know if it works or not, and how I made my setup
