Red LED's may help redder corals maintain their color.
The thing I worry about red LED's is if they encourage nuisance algae growth.
I don't know if they do, but I'd like to see more study about them before I slap them
on my tank.

Red light is filtered out very quick in saltwater and high levels are not natural. There have been studies where growth and coloration of coral under various spectra of light. Increased levels of red light were directly correlated with decreased growth in the coral tested. This study is a great starting point for your own reading/research.

There are so many LED products with narrow spectrum light (no red) and corals grow great and look amazing under them.

Good article, but I think some of my Reds looked much better with a little red. IME there are definitely color benefits. Some of our corals are from within the area that red spectrum does penetrate.
