eels

#1
What does it mean if an eel keeps it's mouth wide open? I know he's not hungry, I just fed him. I have a white ribbon eel, and for the past few days his mouth has been wide open. Is that bad

Thanks for any help!

if you just fed he may be having a hard time getting something down

It is often a threat display trying to frighten away anything that's a little to close to the eel's territory.
