Elephant ear mushroom splitting?

I've had this guy for a few years and he's continually gotten bigger and bigger. The last couple of days he's shrunk down and now he looks like he's tearing in half from the bottom up. If you look at the picture you can see the tear has almost reached the central mouth:

2 things if that thing splits and you want to trade Im your guy....
