Even Though I Don't Care About PH...

I used some garden hose to get outside air to my skimmers in my basement tank and my nighttime PH has been 7.95 up from 7.82. Day time PH is the same at 8.22, so the swing is less. I just thought that I would post in case people do care.

I was thinking of doing some C02 scrubbers to hook up to my skimmers to get the PH up. What's your thoughts on that jda?

I hesitated even posting this since I don't think that anybody should worry about PH. Seriously, don't go through too much effort with it, but this is pretty easy and will work if you really care.

PH is important. Acidification of the ocean is bleaching reefs around the world. 8.3 vs 7.8 is huge. I used a calcium reactor on my previous tank and struggled to keep the ph at 7.8. Alk was 9 and calcium was 420-440. I use the same salt, same ro/di unit, same t5/led combo lights, same skimmer. I went from a 115 gallon to about 150 gallons and my growth is way better and color (especially on sps) is waaay better. I stay at 8.3 daytime/8.1 night time. The only things that have changed is no filter sock and kalk powder in my ato. I use a 10 gallon tank for ato and I add 8 tbsp of kalk every time I refill it. That amount is also currently keeping up with my current cal and alk demands. Right now I am ak 8 dkh and 410 calcium. I do weekly water changes with reef crystals(same as always). A higher and more stable ph is the only thing that has dramatically changed. As my sps colonies get bigger I know kalk will not keep up but when I go back to a calcium reactor or 2 part the kalk is staying. A little kalk in your ato is pretty safe and inexpensive.
