Well for some reason I can't seem to get the colors that I want from my SPS with this unit. I'm seriously debating switching to T5's but want to see if there is any interest out there for this light.

It has been up and running for roughly 9 month is and has never gone over 65%. I would like to get $475.

The only thing is I would need conformation you would want the light and give me a few days to order and get my new light in.

That being said, I'm still on the fence regarding the switch from LED to T5. Has anybody had experience making this switch? Did your growth and colors improve or decline? Pros and cons?

Overall, my parameters are steady and the only variable I can come up with is the light. I tried talking with the Radion rep at MACNA and he thought I may have the light too bright at 60%. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks!

I run my radion at 60%-70%...but the whites are turned down so that they only run at 55% max. That's on a 30"+ deep tank though. What's the depth of your tank?

24" cube. I wish I had a PAR meter to actually determine if it needs to go up or down in intensity.

Hit up Chad, and borrow the clubs...
Totally forgot the club had one... I've never used one, are they pretty straight forward?

I'm just totally on the fence because things seem happy, just not getting the awesome colors that Cris (Aquatic Art) or Josh (Gonzo) can pull from their SPS. I know there is so much more to that than lights, but my parameters are stable and right where I want them and pieces I bring home seem to dull out and don't really pop like I know they can.

I know that t5's require changing of bulbs and potential heat issues compared to LED, but it may be totally worth it to bring out the real beauty of these acros. Just not sure... Has anybody made this transition?

Would anybody be interested in the Radion at this price? Definitely an OBO situation.

I have the Gen 2 on my display, and T5 ReefBrite XHO on the frag tank. I get great color on both honestly.

I'm about to throw up a ReefBrite Hybrid 250 MH with XHO Stunners on another frag/nem tank.

Be careful basing all your changes in par readings. We went to a really interesting talk at macna about leds and he did that unless you have a really nice par meter, they tend to have trouble reading the blue and violet spectrums correctly. Also, you might just consider a different color program for your radions, see what temperatures people are having success with and try their programs.

All if my LPS and zoa's have great color and grow very well. It's my SPS that I'm concerned with.

I had a halide over my previous 24g aquapod and liked it but haven't really thought about it over this tank.

I really wish I could have been at that discussion.

I have an email into ecotech directly to see what they recommend. Hopefully they get back to me. I've heard of them creating custom schedules but don't really know what to expect.

Dig around on reefcentral (pretty sure it was RC)...there is an entire thread dedicated to people posting their tanks and sharing their radion programs...you can download them directly off the forum via attachments.

.
BRS TV was there recording all of the speakers (that were in the presentation room). Not sure how long it will take them to get them edited and posted though.

It is not too bright. The PAR meter won't help you too much since you can register the same PAR with many, many different configurations of diodes and yet some can be harmful and some can be OK. I can hit 900+ par with 2 HQI fixtures over my tank and the SPS thrive - this is a quality or too-focused thing, not a "too much" thing. I might suggest that you focus on the spectrum.
