Hanna digital refractometer not calibrating!!

Ok guys can some one help me this is getting frustrating , I just got a used refractometer I Tried with Rodi and didn't work then I got calibration fluid today and it's reading 1.024 wtf!!! ,, am I doing something wrong or does this thing not work ???

Mine did the same.. 0 with RODI, and .002 low with calibration fluid. Just add .002 to all your readings, and you'll be fine...

So if it's reading 1.024 means is 1.026?

one trick I've learned with the digital refractometers is to use your hand to shield the sample from outside light while taking the measurement. I'm convinced it has helped improve consistency if not accuracy.

Well, when I dropped 1.026 calibration fluid on mine, it always would read 1.024.

The bad thing is with the Hanna, you can recalibrate it, but it's with RO/DI water. So by the time you get to true ocean salt levels, it's off that lil bit - but atleast mine seemed to be off consistently.

I zero it out with ro/di when i droped the calibration fluid it reads 1.026 now, so I guess it's calibrated now
