Ok so I picked up some frags at reefstock, and this guy was nice and maroonish purple with
green eyes on it.. It started to fade a few days ago, so I moved it to a shadier spot.
Yet it continues to fade.. Whats wrong??

5:00AM to 6:30AM 2 actinics only
6:30AM to 8AM 2 actinics 2 whites
8AM to 11AM 2 actinics 3 whites
11AM to 3PM 4 actinics 4 whites
3PM to 5PM 3 actinics 3 whites
5PM to 6:30PM 2 actinics 2 whites
6:30PM to 8:30 2 actinics 1 white
8:30PM to 10 PM 1 actinic 0 white

Favias can be a pain when not happy. Keep it in a shaded spot with little light and just hope for the best.

2 things come to mind.

If the frag was in the least bit of decline before you acquired it the change in water parameters between your system and theirs is finishing it off.

There is some chemistry in your tank that it does not like and could not handle the change (again, adjustment issue).

IMO/E sometimes corals just die. No (known) reason, water chemistry issues beyond our testing abilities. We could be doing everything "right" and they still die. Going from system to system is a huge adjustment for corals and some just dont make the trip.
