Help with ID of Algae?

#1
My roomie wanted me to ask the forum today to see if someone can help ID this Algae(I think it is algae) and how to possibly get rid of it. He has tried cutting it, adding Mag (LFS told him to do so) so far no change. He has had this tank for over a year. I am sorry I do not know his parameters. It doesn't seem to bother anything and it grows extremely slow. Thanks for all the help!

Hmmmm dont see that very often....... looks like it could be a Rhodymenia type to me - https://www.google.com/search?q=Rho...w=1920&bih=979#q=Rhodymenia&tbm=isch&imgdii=_

I know nothing about it (good or bad) and also cant seem to find much info about in hobbyists reefs other than people trying to trade it :p

You could always toss a lawnmower blenny in there. One of those would make quick work out of that macroalgae.

Getting rid of it shouldnt be a problem as long as he does all of these things until it is all gone.

1. Manually remove as much as possible

2. Reduce feeding portions

3. Reduce photoperiod

4. Increase nutrient removal through WC, gfo, wet skimming, etc.
