So we went to petco tonight to get some dog food figured I would look at the fish. I seen that they had a snowflake and had a price for black sadle back clowns right above the tank with no picture. I told Cindy watch I bet I can get that clown for that price. Sure enough and to top it off they where on sale for $4 off. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story lol.

Mind you... this was 2 hours after I put 2 ordinary ocellaris clowns in my tank, after making the fiscally responsible decision not to buy the snowflakes that I really wanted. I spent more on those today than he did on this snowflake. The good news? We just got a killer deal on a nano that needs a little work from matt.radich! SO, looks like that project tank just moved up the honey-do list, while this lil fish is in QT. We might set a record for lowest price nano setup with this tank and clown, plus a few corals. HAHA!

I realized when I got home that we agreed on $35, and I have you $5 if you want it haha. I didn't even think about it until I got home, so this may be a record for a nano. I will have the check my petco now, after seeing a deal like that!!

That extra $5 was intentional on my part. Not only did you offer me the tank at a lower price than anyone else, but you also met us off I25 to save us time. That was really cool of you.

Well I appreciate it, and I hope that it works out for you. I just don't like seeing people get shafted if I can help, and I will be waiting for a build thread!

I should stop avoiding the SW section at petco...

i always go check it out for S&G's. Saw them advertising a RBTA as a "bubble anemone" for 26.99 before... since then i always check.

I got a Halloween hermit for $4 because I asked to buy a Scarlett hermit since the Halloween didn't even have a price tag. I always check my petcos to see what stuff I can save lol. That was a killer deal on that clown for sure.

Picked up a pamphlet from there the other day about their commitment to captive raised species and sustaining the reef.

My very first saltwater fish was from PETCO. It's the only fish that's made it through all of my up/down grades.
I've also got some decent coral a few times!! You gotta be really careful, but I always like to run in and check out the stock when I'm around one.

I'm willing to bet that none of the employees in that store would've had a clue what we were talking about if we mentioned "captive raised" or "aquacultured" anything.

The Petco near me sells Halloween Hermits for $3. They are named "Orange Hermits". They look at me like I am crazy since I come in most weeks to see if they have any and if they do, buy every last one of them...... haha!

I got into saltwater in 2002 while working at petco. The guy that trained me quit cause of the policies they had for saltwater. they wouldn't let him do all the things that make a nice clean safe tank. They wouldn't let him quarantine, hold, ect.

When he quit (after me working there for 4 weeks) I was the new aquarium specialist in the store (HAHAHAHA). I think i was 21, you can see why no one pays attention there, sells things for the wrong price and as it appears these days, do not know how to clean a tank or take care of a fish. I did the best I could and left learning a lot of things not to do and most of all got to see how much lifestock dies in this trade. IT was eye opening.

So anyway now that people know you can get a mislabled tagged fish for super cheep. You can also go in talk to the aquatics manager (hahaha) and have them order what ever you want and negotiate the price right there. But in my opinion, if you like your fish stay away.
