How soon can you run a protein skimmer after cycle? I just turned mine on and the foam is insane. I have the valve all the way open and the cup filled with foam anyway in a minute or two. I assume that's not normal.
I started running mine during the cycle and it's been running every day since. I turned it down so I only have to empty the cup every few days, so I think it is more of a dry skim than some do. It's doing this regardless of pump and/or needle settings?
That's kind of scary - you can't leave the house with the thing on but you need it to run to help get rid of the crapola. That sucks. And you can't turn the pump down at all?
it should im sure the water needed some skimming. I stuck and extra frag of alpha omega in there for testing. so far so good. once the skimmer settles down I should be good
im using the same skimmer and same sump as before. Not sure why it would need to be different. I did take the pump apart so maybe I made it more powerful somehow lol
I couldn't run my skimmer though my cycle it would do the same thing , my skimmer is the gsm with an octopus needle wheel pump. As a matter of fact it was 3 months before it would work corectly
well if you want a few fish anyway
