Hi All, So I would like to do a continuos water exchange (not Change) between my main display, and the baby clownfish tank. the two tanks sit next to each other.

I am looking at a Stenner dual head pump, and the idea is to cross the lines-and exchange about 6 gallons per day ( or 20). I beleive this pump would provide equal input / output since they are on the same driveline.

Does anyone have experience, or a better method? if not, possibly a better available solution. ( Note- plumbing this into main display not an option). I am tired of doing manual water exchanges :)

Yes there is a big write up on this process on reef to reef I believe.

Do you own an apex or have plans for one? The new DOS that neptune is releasing in about a month is by far the highest quality dosing pump on the market and is not much more expensive.

With only two pumps on it, would one have to buy 2 DOS units if he wanted to dose Calcium and Alk, and do continuous WC? My understanding is that would take 4 pumps?

No water change, but a constant water exchage between two tanks. So either the pumps have to be absolutely identical, or just a single pump with two peristalic heads.

Another option that wont require precise exchange of water is to just do a shared sump. Seperate pumps feed each tank from the same sump and overflow back into the sump
