So I noticed this earlier today. Originally thought it was an acan polyp before I hit it with the flashlight. they're also about 2'away from this thing.

It looks like some sort of tube worm or shell, but I can't be sure. It's about an inch in diameter and I haven't noticed any movement inside the "shell".

Thoughts?

Hard to tell until it grows out more but my bet would be lobophora algae. I am basing this off color. If it looks like it has a mouth like an acan, maybe a mojano?

Looks pretty much like some of the large tube worms I have on some of my rocks but hard to tell in the pic for sure

Does it have a feather crown? If it does not then it's almost certainly a vermitid snail. Do you sometimes see a "cob web" stringing from it?

I haven't been able to see any movement in/around the growth. I'm traveling at the moment, but will keep an eye on it when I get back.

Well if you haven't seen anything moving or coming out of the tube then whatever it was is likely long since dead. To me it looks just like a vermitid snail tube.
