Is It Possible for My Cheato To Have Bubble Algae growing from within in it or attached to it?
I tried to take pics but to no avail. After careful examination by taking it out of the tank it appeared to be just small to medium size air bubbles that looked green due to the LED Fuge light within the cheato but just to be sure I rinsed the **** out of the cheato with RO water. If it were Bubble Algae, I know its important not to break those little suckers.

I have NO bubble algae in the tank however I did get the cheato from another fellow reefer earlier this week.......soo.... who knows. It def wasnt their when I got it. Might have been bubbles from the water change

Is that even possible? And was is the texture of Bubble Algae? Is it a little rubbery like a Caulerpa with fluid on the inside? I searched and searched and cannot find an answer to either question :confused:

Thx Ladies & Gents

Yes, chaeto can be a substrate for many things. I've seen caulerpa, aiptasia, xenia, and anthelia growing off of my chaeto at different times.

Thx for the info. I think it was from my WC. I poured some water in the back portion of the AIO and it may have left some bubbles....they just looked green due to the LED and Neon Green Cheato surrounding them. The Cheato is sitting on eggcrate suspended in the middle of the fuge. The flow through the fuge is pretty damn slow but their is flow.

I'm torn on whether the Fuge is supposed to have slow flow or medium flow. It seems to me that the pods etc would like slow/low flow...am I wrong? I could put a Koralia Nano pump under it but that may be overkill?

I washed the cheato just in case. I've been lucky to not have any pesky algae so far and I intend on keeping that way...thats why I hired a hardcore CUC :)

A power head may disturb your pods some, but the extra flow and a gentle tumbling motion will greatly help the Cheato to grow. Depends on what you need more really. If it is handling your nutrient export fine now then I wouldn't worry about it.
