So I bought a used Powerhead and turns out it sucks in water and doesn't push. What would be the issue?

Re: Koralia hydor Problem!!

I say your sol as they once they run in reverse I believe there is no fixing it. However Craig might be right about flipping over the impeller to the other side of the magnet. Def curious to see if this works as I have multiple that are in reverse in my graveyard :)

The front case is broke. If its on constant, stick a knife or something into one of the grates to stop the impeller until it starts going the right way. If its on a wavemaker, you need a new front case ($5 online)

Thanks jack. Fixed it and good to go. Stuck a fork in it and forced it the other way lol. Pretty easy fix for a free Powerhead.

Yeah, I have 3 like that... Sucks but they still work fine. You'll prolly have to do that every time it's shut off. I've heard koralia will send out new front covers for free, but I haven't called yet. I did find a website that sells them for about $5 a piece.

It's got a little tab that sticks in and (somehow, I'm not positive how) keeps the pump going in the right direction... I know all of the ones I have have ran fine for about a year and then one day they were running backward and the front case was broke.

Haha you guys are funny, Korillas are famous for this. That is why they (older ones) are not recommended for use with wave makers. just unplug it and plug it back in untill it starts going the right way, lol. The impeller will ride up the shaft if spinning the wrong way, they sell a small tab that stops this, but they are just problematic heads.

We're talking about the new ones, the evolution series that they came out with for their wavemaker.

I thought I read the front cover has a little black plastic piece that breaks? It's suppose to help the Koralia start up the correct direction everytime it powers up. There's some big thread about that on RC, along with the annoying clicking noise on startup. Especally if you have it on a wave controller that is frequently switching.
