Lame clowns

So I am looking for advice to get my clowns out of the top corner of my tank. They hide all day behind a powerhead and I barely ever see them. I read that getting a schooling type fish will help since they will follow the fish. I bought a blue with yellow tail chromis last week. It was much prettier then the standard green chromis I see everywhere. I did the quarantine bit for a week and put it in my tank yesterday. The stupid thing went straight for the rocks and hid in the rocks... I only see it when I shine a flashlight into the dark caves.

Meanwhile my roommates clowns are all over his tank even hosted a frogspawn and has had them half the time I've had mine, I can't help but feel envious. I'm pretty much out of ideas and hope someone has advice to get my clowns out of the corner.

I had the same issue, I printed a picture of a great white shark and taped it to the glass and they don't go there anymore.
LOL!

I have had clowns that would do this too. some hosted nems too tho. but ya most didnt swim around the tank. except the meaner ones they would swim all over the tank... to bite me!

I wish my current ones would host my frogspawn! that would suppress my urge to get a nem.

I guess it's not so much that I want them swimming all over I just want them to pick a rock or cave or any spot visible. Oh well I will try that shark pic lol but I'm not holding my breath.

Put something in the place they swim now. Or try moving the power head.

If it were me, I'd put them in a smaller container with the item that you want them to host.
Maybe all the open water is frightening them. After they get used to the rock/coral, they may
go back to it when it's in your tank.
Might work, might not ;)

Thanks Gayle(spelling?) I will try that in a week or so. I am using my only other tank right now cycling some rock and it's still got high nitrites. I printed a shark picture lol I put that up just now so I will see how that goes.

You have got to post a pic of the shark pic on the tank...please...

I tried to get my clowns to hose a nem instead of the frogspawn by catching them and puting them over the nem. Only let them stay like that for a few hours but as soon as I freed them they went right back to the frogspawn.

Yeah, but unfortunately now you have Chromis . . . they never die and at least one of them will be a bully to more passive fish. I have two chromis in my 125 that are 7yrs old . . . Note to "myself" NEVER AGAIN!

What is wrong with fish living a long time? It means you have taken good care of them. And i like my chromis, i think they are pretty and cute.

Well how do you get them to host a frog? One of mine is trying to host a zoa lol I thought he was biting it at first buy I got a closer look a few times and he's just laying on it lol.

yep I move that baby twice a week. The shark doesn't work either so guess I will stick them in a bucket for a week with an abalone shell...

LOL - your going to shove your clowns in a bucket so they behave the way you want them to? You do realize that putting them in a bucket for a week will kill them. Your abalone shell will not have enough bacteria on it to handle the bioload of 2 fish, ammonia will build up and your fish will die and if they don't then the ammonia will burn their gills potentially causing permanent damage. Don't punish your fish because they don't swim where you want them to :(

no no not a bucket literally. I have a 10 gallon with heater powerhead and filter. they will be fine. that's what they lived in for 2 months before my 30 gallon
