I have a JBJ and it works great. If you have an Apex though, you will want something else. I wanted the Tunze Osmolator but it cost more than I was willing to spend on it.
I have a Tunze on my 90 gallon and the JBJ on my nanos.
I prefer the JBJ. You'll also need to get a pump with it though. I recommend the Tom's Aqualifter, just be sure you set it up so it doesn't back siphon.
I also have a jbj on my flat... it's great however I can't speak rhe same for my aqualifter. Thing worked well for a few months then started not keeping up every couple days and now it doesn't work at all. Disappointing but perhaps I just had a fluke experience with it
Yeah I heard the same thing initially so I bought 4 just in case. I have them on both of my nanos and they have been working fine for about 2 years now. The only problem I had was back siphoning.

I hate to play safety dance, but that is not safe to use. That is using the contact from the float to interrupt an AC circuit and that contact will be submerged in saltwater. It may work for now, but given time, it will energize your tank with 120V AC, which is a danger to yourself and the fish.
I have used the Hydor ato with a Tom's Aqua Lifter for a year now with no issues. I like the fact that it is not a mechanical float switch and senses the temp change with water vs air. Just be sure not to let the water back siphon. If you are using a controller I would go a different direction but as a stand alone it has been great!
