Looking for bio diversity: cup of sand, LR w/ micro brittle stars

I'm looking to get some bio diversity added to my system.

I'd like to get a cup of sand from several members established tanks if possible. Preferably tanks that have been going for a while with lots of micro fauna (those small white or red worms etc).

Also, looking for some small pieces of live rock that contain micro brittle stars.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Be careful of what you ask for! Be picky on the bio diversity.

+1 for sure. Diversity sounds great in theory, but it can be a wench in reality. What you're wanting to do is roughly equivalent to having unprotected random sex with a lot of people. You may bring something home that you don't really want.

Okay that cracked me up. In all seriousness though, thanks that is a good point.

What other options might I look into that could help me in my quest without catching the 'gift that keeps on giving?'

I would say let it happen naturally. Be yourself... Let your tank grow into its own being... Live in the moment... Let your light shine...

but I digress.

Spaghetti worms (those little red orange things that I think you're talking about) and brittle stars will show up on their own. They'll come in on frags, rubble, rocks, etc. So will other stuff, unfortunately, and you'll have to get a wrasse or three (6-line, coris, scarlet or the like) to keep them in check.

It will come on it's own. Give it time and enjoy the journey! We all know it will happen.
