So I have this old aquamedic 72 inch 3x250 metal halide fixture. Does anyone know or have laying around a ballast that would work inside it. I have no idea what ballast these had in them but figured I would through this out there.

Ya I am just trying to get this fixture together in case I want to use it. One thing that confuses me is the ballast says 220v but it has 110 plugs. Are these ballast 220 but ran at 110 to reduce drawl if that even sounds right

220 might be the output, dont quote me, but Im pretty sure the pourpuse of a ballast is to take the standard current and ramp it up, its similair to a transformer, but in the opposite sense. A transformer lowers the curret and voltage, a ballast ups it, I THINK, so dont burn your house down on my theory!

Call Aquamedic. They will have replacement parts. You might even be able to just take it up there and have the fellas troubleshoot it - call them and see if they will. The helped me the first time over the phone from Kansas City to Loveland.

I have the same light (assuming AquaSpaceLight) in both 250W and 150W versions. I love them. I have had to repair it a few times and it was always something easy. If it is the ASL, it is made to run 220V in europe, but it has regulators that go from 110 to 220 for here in the USA. You can troubleshoot it with a voltmeter if you are handy at all - you just follow the input and it will test out 110, 100, then jump to 220, etc... at some point you will have no output voltage and that is your bad part. On some of them, if you just clean the terminals for the starters and even try a different bulb, they will fire right up.

Ya I called aquamedic they said there are not replacement parts for it due to its age that its all external now. These are the old school internal ballast.
