Ive been holding off on posting this as Im not entirley sure what Im going to do, but many of you that know me personally already know so I thought Id share with the club.
I experienced a tank crash over Valentines Day weekend. Power went out while we were out of town, battery back up didnt kick on as far as i know. When we returned home I enterd my house to the most foul smell I have ever encountered. Tank had dropped to 65 degrees.
I lost just about everything, all SPS, majority of my zoas, surprisingly enough my LPS faired the storm pretty good, I only lost 2 torches. As far as fish go I lost my flame angel, coral beauty, mated pair of dragonettes (both eating frozen), valentini puffer, my little harem of clown gobies (4 in all) and my entire clean up crew (including 2 cleaner shrimp) with the exception of the very first hermit I ever bought, he made it too!!
Im basically left with a pair of clowns and 2 wrasses, a nem, a handful of LPS and a few zoas that made it.
After alot spent on salt for water changes the tank has leveled back out and everything that made it starting to look good again, now i have to decide if I want to rebuild or if I want to break down. Ive been mulling this over since this happened and in all honesty Im not sure which way to go. I really dont have the money to re-stock the tank (no longer working in a fish shop really sucks right now) and everytime I look at it in its current state I become depressed. Those of you who have experienced this know exactly what Im talking about. Theres nothing like seeing the little eco system youve worked so hard to establish go right down the drain.
My thought right now is to transfer whats left into the 29 gallon bio cube once its ready and break down and sell the 75 set up. I just cannot see myself being able to re-stock it anytime soon and looking at it empty is simply killing me.
MOST EXPENSIVE VALENTINES DAY EVER!!!!!
