Mrc magnetic kalk stirrer questions

So I went and bought a mrc magnetic kalk stirrer yesterday my question is. Are they designed to always be stirring or is it like my reef octopus that only stirres every now and them?

The reason I ask is there is nothing in the kalk washer itself it's pretty much just gently moving water around. And the little magnetic bar that sits there that spins you have to spin to get it going. Since there's no shaft or anything that spins it. It's completely magnetic.

Let me know if that makes sense

My aqua medic is not magnetic, but is left on 24x7. Do you have a dosing pump to measure out how much is dosed? I was using a normal power head and just left it on for 20 sec an hour. Problem is I find that when I put a cup of new Kalk in, ph goes up and alk and calc are higher in the first few days then after a week. I was hoping for more consistency. Recently took off line until I can get a peristaltic 50ml BRS pump to see if smaller more frequent (measured) doses helps. Good luck.

My aquamedic is a bar type stirer and is on a brs 50 mill doser and a top off controller. My aquamedic is only supposed to stir like 4-5 times a day for 10 min max each.

This new one will be ran off a 50 mill dosser also but I think the stirrer is designed to constantly spin
